Bonus for returning backers

The bonus script has been executed - returning backers received a complimentary credit on their pledge manager accounts in BackerKit.


The credit is applied only to (Core and Premium) backers and late pledges of our 2013 and 2018 campaigns who now ordered a new Core box.

If this applies to you, and you didn’t receive the complimentary credit, send me a Kickstarter message with this data:

  • which previous campaign you’ve backed, 
  • what email you used for that project, 
  • what email are you using for this project (in BackerKit).

Your orders will be locked on the 1st of February.

Your cards will be charged on the 3rd of February.

Where are we?

There are 6 teams working on the 6 language versions of our game boxes: English, German, French, Spanish, Polish, and Chinese. I do have ongoing communication with all the translators. They are either finished or nearly finished with the translation of the Core and From Beyond content.

Before sending the To Eternity files to the translators, we still need: 1 monster illustration, 4 chapter tile illustrations, and some additional playtesting. All of these things are scheduled to be completed by the end of next week.

When does the production start?

After speaking with the manufacturer, and taking into account the remaining translations for the To Eternity, we are aiming to start production on the 1st of March.

When does the distribution start?

In the latest quote from the manufacturer it says 35-40 days mass production lead time, and the freight time 30-35 days. If we go with the best possible scenario from the quote, it means that we can start with the distribution in the beginning of May

When we launched the campaign it was a different world. I’m just not convinced; there are a lot of boxes, and the worldwide logistical channels are still bottlenecked. Also, I didn’t dream that She would demand to metastasize in so many tongues. Still, regretfully, I need to push the estimated distribution to July. We will see. I will keep you updated how the things are moving (comment project updates in the Comments section).

For now things are moving dangerously favorable. I couldn’t be more satisfied with how everyone is doing their part in completing this beautiful thing.

Pre-production boxes received

Why just not reprint the 2nd edition?

Now that we are finishing the pre-production copy of the 3rd edition's Core box, I wanted to briefly go over the changes from the previous edition.


The box

  • new design
  • height increased by 4cm (1.6inches)

Plastic tray insert

  • from a cheaply standard tray, we designed a 4 piece solution
  • tray for tokens while you are playing
  • tray for standees
  • tray for player boards, chapter board, map tile, and wood tokens
  • tray for all the cards (grouped by each type, then additionally split by level / scenario / expansion - where applicable)
  • tray is designed for sleeved cards, and for both expansions

Shrinkwrapped cards

  • every deck of cards is carefully ordered (by type, name, level, and scenario where applicable)
  • chapter cards are ordered in a way for unpack&play (with endgame cards on a specific position)

Learning materials

  • improved the Manual
  • Guidebook: added a new booklet that guides new players through first 5 game rounds
  • Player aid: added 4x leaflets with most important actions and game concepts

Map tiles

  • Core box has 3 double sided map tiles from the 2nd edition's Premium box
  • introduced a unique identifier inside the direction symbol

Tokens

  •  Explored tokens renamed to Destroyed tokens
  •  Destroyed/Light tokens reduced by 2mm per each side
  •  Light tokens colors changed to accentuate when being placed on the map tile

  • Health tokens renamed to Wound tokens
  • you place Wound tokens only when a monster loses health

  •  Count tokens are on the other side of Wound tokens
  •  Count tokens used to count the counted conditions (and for charges)

  • visual representation for the lasting effects are improved with the introduction of two icons
  • Explorer markers are updated to better connect with the lasting effect icons

Card errata (204 cards)

  • cosmetic changes (12)
  • swapped color scheme between Bruiser and Gunman to match their auto-equip item type (6)
  • explicitly stating nearest/any (28)
  • rewording the text for easier understanding, or for better consistency (63)
  • added horizontal separator to some chapter cards for their "enters play" abilities (17)
  • added "Start a new round" on few chapters to better control the flow of the game (4)
  • updated cards due to new lasting effect icons (72)
  • tweaking the cards by improving the existing abilities, or with introducing new abilities (38)


Could I have just reprinted the 2nd edition, and just focused on the "To Eternity" box?

Could I have just left Her in that dress as Her final form?

Pledge Manager: invites sent

We have just sent the surveys to 5% of backers from each pledge level in our campaign. It’s a simple way to catch any errors, and make sure everything runs smoothly. Once the smoke test has been completed (12 hours), we will send surveys to the rest of our backers.

Q: How does charging works?

The pledge manager is used to pay for shipping, additional copies of the game, and add-ons. We use BackerKit. Your credit card will not be charged until the future date (something similar how Kickstarter will not charge your card when you pledge, but only after the project funds).

Our date for charging the cards through the pledge manager is currently planned for 1st of February 2021, but you will be notified in a timely manner about that in one of our future project updates.


Q: I am a returning backer, when can I expect to have the returning backer bonus applied to my pledge manager account?

We will run a verification process on the 15th of January 2021 and add a bonus to your pledge (if we find you by cross-referencing our data).

After that we will have a project update to notify you that we have applied the bonus to all of our returning backers. If even after that future project update your upgrade is not reflected in pledge manager, please send us a Kickstarter message so we can sort you out. 

The bonus is applied only to Kickstarter backers, and late pledges of our 2013 and 2018 campaigns who now ordered a new Core box.


Q: Can I change my delivery address?

Yes, you will always be able to change your delivery address on your own - just use the pledge manager to do so. You can do this even after we charge the card, but of course it will need to be done before we start the shipping (currently planned for May 2021)!


Q: When is the latest I can complete the pledge manager survey?

BackerKit doesn't charge your credit card once you complete the survey (similar how Kickstarter will not charge your card when you pledge, but only after the project funds). The current estimate date where you should have completed the survey is the 1st of February 2021 (then the cards are planned to be charged).


Q: How to upgrade my pledge through the pledge manager?

It is easy to upgrade your pledge level inside the pledge manager.  Click on your invite link from the BackerKit email. Then, click on the link to "switch your pledge level".

Fresh blood and old hands alike - from across the world you gathered to pledge your support in unveiling the latest chapter in the MACHINA ARCANA saga. Along the way we managed to unlock enough content to make this our biggest instalment yet, and many of you will now also be able to experience her terrifying whispers for the first time in your own mother tongue. 

We want to thank each and every one of you for your questions, comments, curiosity and support as we bound the restless energies within us all for this profound ritual of summoning. 

We give our hearts to YOU. 

It is in this hallowed moment we take a deep breath of relief and gratitude before plunging headlong back into the abyss to complete and polish all the components of this massive project to ensure every aspect is tuned to a perfection that will truly frighten you into paradise. Behind the scenes we are working tirelessly on the remaining design, play-testing, art and writing to craft a fitting climax to this strange journey we have undertaken together, and we are on track to deliver the infernal boxes to your doorstep by May 2021.

Email invitations to the pledge manager will be issued as soon as the funds are transferred from Kickstarter so keep an eye on your inboxes. From there you can customise your orders and perhaps peruse the add-ons, tailoring the experience to suit your morbid appetites!
